OAKDEAN COTTAGES
LANCASHIRE
LOCATION
Surrounded by rolling hills and winding rivers, Oakdean Cottages in The Ribble Valley offer the ideal base to immerse yourself in the Lancashire countryside. Their location, nestled on a serene hillside in beautiful gated gardens boasting spectacular views, provides the perfect space for a relaxing getaway. Described as 'an excellent gateway to the North', these three multi-award winning cottages have great transport links to major cities and tourist hot spots throughout the North West.
Oakdean Cottages are situated in the small rural village of Langho, in serene countryside with stunning views of the Ribble Valley. This also places us within the official Forest of Bowland AONB, a setting that has inspired many - including J.R.R. Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are more than 40 idyllic villages surrounding Langho, the nearest of which is Whalley; just a 5 min drive or 30 min walk. Along with a beautiful Abbey, the Grade II listed Whalley Viaduct (the largest in Lancashire), shops, a deli, and a bakery, there are pubs, bars and restaurants to suit every appetite. The charming market town of Clitheroe is only a 15 min drive away and offers a large choice of supermarkets, independent shops, places to eat, and a beautiful park and playground in the grounds of the iconic medieval Castle. For days out by car, The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the seaside are all less than an hour away. As our cottages are in the Ribble Valley we are perfectly situated for guests coming further afield as we’re close to Junction 31 of the M6 with very good transport links. Preston is a 30 min drive away where direct trains go to London (2 hrs), to Glasgow (2 hrs) and to Edinburgh (2 hrs 30 mins). Described as Lancashire and Yorkshire’s hub into and out of the North, Manchester and Leeds are approx 1 hr drive away and both cities have international airports. The famous warmth of Lancastrian hospitality ensures visitors from all over the globe return time and time again.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
We have stayed at this venue numerous times over the years and absolutely love it. The cottages are warm and have everything you need and spotlessly clean. The location is perfect for eating out at the number of gastropubs nearby. It is well positioned to drive to Manchester for football and shopping. Also ideal for driving into Whalley and Clitheroe. The owners are always delighted to help especially if you have forgotten something. We will definitely be returning.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
We came to the area to see our grandchildren. We stayed in Calder Cottage which is a comfortable cosy cottage enjoying all the amenities that you want in a holiday cottage. It is in a beautiful setting with lots of countryside to explore and places to see. The owners are very friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. The weather could have been kinder but we still got out and about. We have stayed in many holiday cottages with our dogs and this cottage is up there with the best. We plan to visit again.

Another wonderful stay in Oakdean Cottages. This must be our 10th stay in these beautiful cottages. Ian, Sue and Anna are such hospitable hosts and are on site in case of any concerns. Ribble cottage is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Peaceful and quiet yet close to the most amazing pubs and restaurants and the Everyman Cinema in Clitheroe. A trip to the Lord Nelson pub at the end of the road is absolute must. Will look forward to our next trip. Can thoroughly recommend.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
We stayed at Hodder Cottage for a few days in September with our 82 year old mother who has limited mobility. The cottage has no steps and you walk straight outside, onto the patio and into the gardens. Sue and Ian were extremely helpful and supplied a shower seat for our stay. The cottage is simply but beautifully decorated, spacious, clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. Ian and Sue are only a phone call or txt away should you need any help or information. We really enjoyed our stay.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
My wife and I have just returned from our wonderful relaxing and comfortable stay at Calder cottage.
Great location for food lovers as there's an abundance of great restaurants with in 5 to 15 minutes drive from the cottage which is also well serviced by local takeaways. Where the cottage sits means there is no light pollution so great for star gazing and watching the rising sun light up the valley below if you're an early riser.
But for me personally and maybe not for my wife is that you are no more than 12 minutes away from more than a dozen really good golf courses. Whalley, Great Harwood (9 hole), Wilpshire, Clitheroe, (18 hole) Mytton Fold (not for the faint hearted) to name a few. We will definitely be return customers. Thanks to Anna, Ian and Sue for a wonderful stay.

My husband, son and I stayed in the Ribble Cottage for 4 nights mid August and we were blown away with it. The owners were so lovely and left bath toys for our son and a box of toys for him to play with. The accommodation is so well appointed, the facilities are great and the space was just perfect. Beds comfy, shower/bath water pressure was great and all the extra bits the home comes with, makes your stay easy and comfortable. It is also secure and feels so safe, plus the location and views are just beautiful. We will definitely be back to stay. Thank you 🤩

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
We stayed in Hodder Cottage for three nights in August as we were attending a family wedding locally.
The cottage is in a beautiful secluded spot, peaceful and tranquil. The cottage was spacious and immaculately clean. The kitchen was probably the best equipped I have ever stayed in and and we have stayed in quite a few! Would not hesitate to return. If you are thinking about booking, I would say DO IT! you will not be disappointed.

This is our second stay at Calder Cottage. We were fortunate to get a late booking. My family is from Burnley and this is a perfect location for us to catch up with friends and family. I can only echo others’ comments. Exceptional cleanliness and comfort and welcome. The Ribble Valley is so beautiful and Oakdean is a calm and peaceful oasis. Big plus - it’s all on one floor. No lugging cases upstairs.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
This was our 5th stay at Oakdean Cottages, Hodder cottage was in immaculate condition as always and I have to say Oakdean Cottages are the best cottages we have stayed in by far. The views and surroundings are stunning! The beds are the comfiest beds we have stayed in and this time round I so wish we could have stayed longer! The cottage is always cleaned to an extremely high standard and has everything you need and more. The children loved seeing the Alpcas and chickens this time round too. Anna, Ian and Sue are always very welcoming and nothing is ever to much. Lovely touches such as fresh flowers on arrival in the little vase and lovely touches such as books on the local area which are always lovely to read, even with me being from Lancashire I learnt a little more this time round . Looking forward to our next stay in December already!! 😍
